About David
David Edgerton has been making music since an early age. He started playing the piano at age 3, and began arranging music for his 8th grade school band at age 13. At North Carolina A&T State University, he earned a degree in electrical engineering and a minor in music composition. While there, he studied jazz and arranged popular music for the University’s marching band. He also performed his original works in the University’s first composition recital.
His debut release “Called to Play” is a collection of contemporary compositions written around his life experiences. From his funky rendition of “Stretch Out,” to his solo piano reflection of “Called to Play,” David demonstrates several degrees of expression for any given mood. His arrangements focus on acoustic piano in the center of a small tight combo setting with harmonic and rhythmic accents from different instruments.
When he isn’t creating and performing music you can find him teaching classes at a local university, cycling, playing with his 2 boys, spending time with his wife of 16 years, and giving his time serving as a minister at his church.
