So I changed my mind and went back to the original concept of a piano piece for “The Eucharist.”  I published it to CDBaby.com and it is now available for download.  You can go to http://www.cdbaby.com/edgerton3 to hear a clip and download the song. I hope it will get some good reviews as we continue to work on a larger project.

My tune “The Eucharist” has taken on a new identity and sound.  It started out as a piano composition, buth then it morphed into an arrangement with strings, rhodes, and drums.  I think I have some other moving parts in it to round out the arrangement.

I have a few more things to do to it and then I’m going to release on CDBaby.com.  I’m working on the mixing and a little more writing before I call it done.

So I decided to release a single before I release my big project.  This first one is called “The Eucharist” and I’m still working on the final touches on the tune.  It is going to be musical response to what I think about communion and what it represents to me.  So far it is a piano composition but I may add some addition instrumentation to it.  We’ll see.

Okay,…so it’s been awhile since I’ve been in the studio and wrote a post.  I’ve been sick the last week and didn’t do anything but sleep and rest.  I’m better now and will be posting more about my progress on the new project.  I purchased some sample today and worked on 3 new ideas.  If these make the cut then I’ll have more of and LP than an EP.  I’m also working on nailing down a studio I want to work with to mix and master the project.  I have a new prospect through my church so I’m going to check that out soon.  For now, I have 13 ideas that I’m working through and tightening up on the writing.  We’ll get there.  Also, someone bought 3 of my CDs this week.  That’s what I’m talking about.

Idea #01 is sounding nice right now.  It is a latin tune with a hip-hop, funky beat underneath.  I’m going to let my son help me name this tune when I’m done with it since he is almost fluent in Spanish.  I just added a guitar-sounding solo line to it and it is fitting in nicely.  I think it needs some different music for the bridge but we’ll keep working on it.  I may put a 30 second clip on the site for fans to check out to see if I’m going in the right direction.

We just got through tweaking the website to include shows and services.  Also we tweaked the layout to handle adding music and news about our progress.  Now I can focus on the process of putting this project together for release.  The tunes are coming along but some of them need a little extra punch in the writing.  I’m going to add some vocals to some of the tunes so I have to figure out how I’m going to do that soon.

The studio is getting junky.  I’ve got the kid’s instruments in the same area as my stuff and it looks like it is growing.  Idea #03 was tracked today but I don’t know if I like it.  My brother helped me with something today.  He said, “Put out as much music as you can.  Some will be good, some will be bad, but keep putting out music.  You get better with time.”  I’ll take that from a super-talented bass and tuba player who makes his living doing what he loves.

Just remixed the beats on one of the songs for the new project. I also added music to the website. Stretch Out and All Caught Up are now featured on the homepage. Progress is coming slow but we’re getting there.

I’m in the studio this morning working on some tunes before heading off to work.  Idea #08 and Idea #07 are coming along.  I changed the underlying rhythm to Idea #07 and it seemed to open the song up.  I’m exporting the audio to CD so I can check it out in my truck.
