This year is the year I launch out into the deep and start the software company I’ve always wanted. Mind you, I’m not a pro developer or have a lot of capital to invest in this venture. My intention is to use this year as a learning experience about launching ventures and to truly get off my butt and do something productive.
Usually you launch a company with a market, a product, a customer base, and other assets. I’m going to be the non-traditional company and use my time to figure out all those things as we go. Some may say that my idea of launching a company with no defined market or product is crazy but my goal is to figure all of that out as we go and document what I learn.
So that we are not all over the board, I do want to focus in 2 areas: the Python language and the Swift language. I want to use my interest in Python to build some web-based projects and also learn the Swift language so I can build iPhone apps. While this is aggressive and ambitious, I don’t plan on producing my products by myself. This year will be used to develop my processes and approach to running the company while we figure out the details around the products I offer.
The name of my company is Pytistics, LLC. It is a name I came up with that mixes the words Python and statistics; a course I teach in an MBA program. This year we will develop our first product and by year’s end have at least one paying customer. Here we go.
